Rookie and Mazda Road 24 to Scholarship recipient Jared Thomas (No. 96 Carter Racing Enterprises) earned his first Global Mazda MX-5 Cup presented by BFGoodrich® Tires pole on Saturday. His teammate, Michael Carter (No. 08 Carter Racing Enterprises) will line up next to him on the front row for Sunday’s Round Nine race at New Jersey Motorsports Park (NJMP).

Global Mazda MX-5 Cup presented by BFGoodrich® Tires has returned to New Jersey Motorsports Park (NJMP) for the first time in 10 years. To get the current crop of drivers and teams acclimated to the 12-turn, 2.258-mile road course, three 40-minute test sessions were held on Friday.

Only four rounds remain of the Global Mazda MX-5 Cup Championship presented by BFGoodrich® Tires, and the Championship is closer than ever. To make things even more interesting, the Series heads to a track it hasn’t seen since 2010: New Jersey Motorsports Park (NJMP) in Millville, New Jersey. Whomever learns the circuit fastest could walk away with a firm hold on the points lead.

Echoing his race win two weeks ago at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, Michael Carter (No. 08 Carter Racing Enterprises) vowed after a disappointing Race One, that Saturday’s Race Two would be different. And just like the previous Global Mazda MX-5 Cup presented by BFGoodrich® Tires event, he went on to win.

Robert Noaker (No. 13 Robert Noaker Racing/Slipstream Performance) continued his winning ways at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course with a Global Mazda MX-5 Cup presented by BFGoodrich® Tires Round Seven victory on Friday. He held off a late charge from Michael Carter (No. 08 Carter Racing Enterprises) to take his third win of the 2020 season and his third Global Mazda MX-5 Cup win at Mid-Ohio.
