Skip Brock Jr. will pilot the No. 58 entry for AAG Racing May 2–4 at Barber Motorsports Park with sponsorship from Gaines Family Farmstead.

Brock Jr. has been racing Spec Miata for a decade after watching his dad race for several years. After graduating with his bachelor’s degree in English from Auburn University, he and his father raced together and against each other for many seasons.

Around that time, Brock Jr. received his pilot’s license and bought a Beechcraft Bonanza airplane, which he flies to races. His father recently retired from racing due to an ankle injury, and now Brock Jr. is driving his car and has quickly found success, with multiple Hoosier Super Tour podiums this season.

Barber Motorsports Park is Brock Jr.’s home track. He resides less than 15 minutes away in Birmingham and races there at least once a year. Brock Jr. has won two of his last three races at the track and holds the current track record in Spec Miata.

It will be a reunion of former teammates. Brock Jr. and Skyler Cottrell previously raced together at OPM Autosport. The two have raced both together and against each other over the last few years and will be paired once again—this time in the Mazda MX-5 Cup Series with AAG Racing.

Life is changing for Brock Jr., who will become a father in August. Racing has been a major part of his adult life, and this race will be a personal milestone for the Alabama native. He looks forward to competing in the Mazda MX-5 Cup at his home track and having the opportunity to represent Spec Miata in a series he has followed since its beginning.

Brock Jr. will race in front of a home crowd when the Mazda MX-5 Cup Series returns to Barber Motorsports Park, May 2–4.

“I’m thrilled to be racing in MX-5 Cup at my home track! I’ve been racing Miatas at Barber for a decade, so I’m hoping I can bring that experience to the pro level and be as competitive as I have been in the SCCA,” said Brock Jr.

“Skyler [Cottrell] and I are old teammates in Spec Miata, and we’ve both raced many times with Noah and Chris, so for all of us to be at AAG together is going to be a blast!” Brock Jr. continued.

“I’m looking forward to having Skip join our team for Barber. He knows the track very well. It’s great to have him behind the wheel of one of our AAG cars with Gaines Family Farmstead on the car,” said Chris Clarke, owner of AAG Racing.

“Gaines Family Farmstead is honored to be sponsoring Skip Brock in AAG Racing’s No. 58 car at the upcoming Mazda MX-5 Cup Series at Barber Motorsports Park, May 2–4,” said Dewar Gaines, CEO and founder of Gaines Family Farmstead. “Our families have been friends for over 25 years, business partners for three, and now we are going racing together! We are excited to showcase our brand at our home track in Birmingham and look forward to a great weekend of racing. Come find us for some free dog treats!”

About Gaines Family Farmstead

For more than three generations, the Gaines family has been a dog family. We’ve raised purebreds of all kinds, including Weimaraners, Samoyeds, Irish Setters, miniature Chihuahuas, Border Collies and Poodles—just to name a few. We’ve also opened our doors and our hearts to rescue dogs, giving them their forever home. Raising dogs has been as much a part of our family as breathing. Each dog is a member of the family. They are trained, disciplined and pampered—we even take them on vacations.

Because we are dog people, we are in constant contact with our veterinarian seeking advice on the best, healthiest food and treats. Frustrated and fed up with the subpar selection, we decided to address the problem ourselves. We again consulted our family vet—this time on the health benefits of sweet potatoes in canine diets—and then conducted some independent research of our own.

Boy, did we learn a lot. Our family believes what we discovered deserves to be shared with other like-minded dog folks. Gaines Family Farmstead Sweet Potato Dog Treats is the culmination of our research and hard work, and we’re delighted to share them with you.
