Daytona Beach, FL – Bryan Hixon, sole owner of Hixon Motor Sports (HMS), returns to the 2021 Mazda MX-5 Cup presented by BFGoodrich® Tires championship with a long-term multi-car initiative. Hixon competed a full 2020 season alongside teammate Justin Piscitell who earned the team a podium finish at the 2020 season finale at the St. Petersburg Grand Prix. Under his motto, Carpe Somnium, “seize the dream,” Hixon proudly announces past Mazda scholarship winner Selin Rollan and Savanna Little, who recently earned the first Mazda female scholarship to the HMS driver lineup.
“Saying I’m excited for the upcoming season is an understatement. I am absolutely electrified to return for a full season, add impressive drivers to the HMS lineup while elevating our MX-5 Cup platform with new partnerships with companies and with charities and continued growth driven by a passion to make my late father proud,” said Hixon.
Bryan Simpson Hixon of San Antonio, Texas, holds five collective championships all under Mazda MX-5 platforms during his career. In 2012, Hixon won the MX-5 Cup Championship in the Skip Barber Pro Class and $75,000 Mazda Scholarship with a custom Sparco helmet and custom Sparco Mazdaspeed Motorsports Development racing suit with two full sets of nomex underwear and Sparco racing shoes. Dedicated to his craft, in 2020 Hixon started his own team, Hixon Motor Sports. His journey and return to motorsports has given him another venture to seize the dream of growing and striving for the ultimate success primarily as a team owner and secondarily as a gentleman driver with an extremely high level of passion to improve his race craft in a racing series that Hixon says “will prepare any driver for whatever level of pro racing one wishes to do after MX-5 Cup thanks to Andersen Promotions, Mazda Motorsports and IMSA!”
Thanks to the encouragement of his late father, George “Tim” Cooley Hixon to create his own team, Hixon Motor Sports (2) two full-season entries that finished Top 7 and Top 12 of the 2020 championship with 27 total entrants. The Hixon Motor Sports team was personally awarded the VP Racing Fuels Clean Image Award during their inaugural season at an unforgettable banquet with announcer Tony La Porta as emcee.
HMS tested at Daytona International Speedway last weekend showing great promise and execution during the two-day test. As the team gears up for the 2021 season, HMS plans to make more announcements leading up to the first race of the season January 28-29, 2021, during the IMSA Rolex 24-Hour weekend.
With a love for people, paying it forward and love for animals, “DJ Le Tigre” Hixon proudly supports the World Wildlife Fund amongst many other charities such as Autism Speaks and The Tim and Karen Hixon Foundation. Hixon believes in doing good selfless acts, random acts of kindness, and always doing the right thing. “Surround yourself with people who push you, challenge you, who make you laugh, who make you better and who make you happy.”
