Meza, a native of Houston, Texas, is the runner-up in the latest shootout from the series’ manufacturer. BSI, Shea Holbrook and company, boast a rich history of having scholarship recipients under their tent. Holbrook, having worked with Connor Zilisch, Bryce Cornet, Thomas Annunziata, and most recently, Westin Workman, continues that trend for BSI Racing.
Meza joins 2024 scholarship winner and 2024 Rookie of the Year, Westin Workman for the team’s 2025 campaign, along with the recent addition of series veteran Tyler Gonzalez, as the team looks to contend for a championship this season.
Meza is no stranger to Mazda Motortsports, having spent last season as a part of the Mazda Club Racing Factory team, as well as a scholarship recipient in the Spec MX-5 series in 2023, calling the received funding a “game changer.”
Meza is also an accomplished kart driver, as well as a successful open wheel driver with two podium finishes in the American F4 Championship.
"I'm thrilled to be racing with BSI Racing in the 2025 season,” said Meza.
“I first met Shea Holbrook during the 2023 Spec MX-5 Shootout, and that introduction led me to spend time with the team as a fan during two MX-5 Cup race weekends in 2024. While with BSI, I had the chance to see firsthand what it’s like to be part of their operation, and I quickly realized they were the team I wanted to join one day.
“After earning the incredible opportunity to compete in the 2024 Mazda MX-5 Cup Shootout and coming away with another life-changing scholarship, choosing BSI Racing was an easy decision. I’m excited to work with this amazing team and can’t wait to chase strong results together this season!"
With plenty of series experience at the helm for BSI, Meza walks into deeply talented BSI tent with an opportunity to contribute immediately.
“We love our scholarship recipients here at BSI” said team owner Holbrook.
“It’s a privilege to have the opportunity to develop these young drivers and help get them where they want to go. That comes with high expectations, especially in this series where it’s no-longer uncommon to podium or win as a rookie. We believe in Helio and know that he’s up to the challenge.
“We can’t wait to mentor him and chase our goals this season.”
Meza will make his series debut with BSI, January 22-24, as a part of IMSA’s Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona. All races will be streamed on IMSA.tv with on-track activities beginning on Wednesday, the 22nd.
