Daytona Beach, Florida - December 19, 2023 - BSI Racing is excited to announce its official entrance into the Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup for the 2024 IMSA racing season and foreseeable future.

Managed by Shea Holbrook (BSI Owner and Team Principal) and her husband Nick Chorley (Managing Partner and Technical Director), the duo is excited to enter the paddock. The BSI name has deep Mazda roots with Holbrook and Chorley’s extensive experience in the MX-5 Cup paddock providing an invaluable resource as BSI makes its official debut in the series.

Alongside BSI’s owners, the team has extended its relationship with renowned driver coach and team engineer, Andrew Carbonell. Carbonell, a seasoned IMSA and MX-5 Cup veteran, will support BSI drivers by providing crucial data, extensive track knowledge, and engineering. Carbonell recently helped Flis Performance develop the current MX-5 Cup chassis. His expertise is perfect for the variety of skill levels BSI has in its driver lineup.

“BSI has worked with Andrew for many years now and has an extensive background with Mazda Motorsports since the mid 2000’s. Seasoned in categories such as Spec Miata, Grand-AM ST in Mazda MX-5’s and RX-8’s, to winning in the first Mazda diesel in the Grand-Am Rolex Series in the Mazda 6 GX. Andrew raced with BSI early in his career and is an integral part of our business,” said Holbrook.

“Managing a team in this series these past few years has been a tremendous experience for us, and now, to be able to be an owner as well is incredibly exciting. We love this series and the people at Mazda, so we’re proud to be in this position. We’re going to compete like we always have.”

BSI’s driver lineup sees a host of multiple familiar faces returning, including 2023 third-place finisher Selin Rollan. Jonathan Neudorf, Julian DaCosta, Farhan Siddiqi, and Ethan Tyler also return to the series as BSI drivers.

Winner of the 2022 Mazda Women in Motorsports Initiative Scholarship, Heather Hadley returns to MX-5 Cup, signing with BSI after racing with Spark Performance in 2023.

BSI will also serve as the home for 2023 Mazda MX-5 Cup Shootout scholarship winner, Westin Workman, adding a second scholarship recipient to the team. Christian Hodneland also joins the team for his MX-5 Cup debut.

“This is a competitive bunch.” said BSI Co-Owner Nick Chorley. “We have veteran drivers that we’ve worked with for multiple seasons now and scholarship recipients as well. To have so much talent sign on with us just speaks to the type of racing culture we want to maintain at BSI.”

BSI Racing launches its 2024 Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup campaign January 24th, as a part of IMSA’s Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona weekend.
