Birmingham, Ala. (12 April 2018) - The total margin of victory for the 2017 Battery Tender Global Mazda MX-5 Cup presented by BFGoodrich Tires season was just over four seconds—for the entire twelve race season combined.
With that kind of incredible parity and competition, the Global Mazda MX-5 Cup is recognized as being one of the best shows in racing. And Mazda is once again stepping in to make sure that everyone can catch the action no matter where they are by providing a live stream of both races at Barber Motorsports Park next weekend.
The broadcast for Friday’s Global Mazda MX-5 Cup 45-minute race will begin at 2:15 PM ET, while Saturday’s race will begin at 10:50 AM ET, and will be broadcast LIVE on Mazda USA’s YouTube Channel (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JlDeHtHLUf0).
The visit to Barber Motorsports Park, staged as part of the Verizon IndyCar Series event, will see over 30 Global MX-5 Cup cars on track as drivers compete for championship prizes that include the $200,000 Mazda Road to 24 scholarship awarded to the season champion and $75,000 awarded to the Global MX-5 Cup Rookie of the Year.
After getting the 2018 season off to such a competitive start in March with two outstanding races at the Circuit of the Americas, Mazda is eager to share the tremendous race action with fans around the globe with the streaming at Barber Motorsports Park.
“We’ve long felt like this is some of the best racing on the planet, and after the two opening races this year that were streamed from COTA, the response has grown exponentially, ” said John Doonan, Director, Mazda Motorsports. “Having the parity that this Global Mazda MX-5 Cup car provides is where it all starts, and the proof is in the pudding. These drivers do an incredible job to race hard and fight for their results. We are so happy to be able to have the Barber event streamed again and we hope everyone gets to see what we are talking about when we describe what the racing is like in Global Mazda MX-5 Cup.”
The Battery Tender Global Mazda MX-5 Cup presented by BFGoodrich Tires staged two thrilling races to open the 2018 season at the Circuit of the Americas this weekend, with over 300 on-track passes completed, and now race fans have the chance to watch them both.
