August 9, 2023 – Multi-time winners in the 2023 Idemitsu Mazda MX-5 Cup presented by BFGoodrich Tires (MX-5 Cup) program in 2023, Hixon Motor Sports (HMS) is adding to their already monumental driver lineup. Joining the HMS squad at VIRginia International Raceway August 25-27, Julian DaCosta aims to continue the team’s success as the season reaches its conclusion at the following race at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta for the Petit Le Mans and MX-5 Cup Championship finale.

“We welcome Julian to the team and look forward to assisting him in achieving both his short and long-term goals,” explained HMS Team Manager, Shea Holbrook. “Our success on the track is bringing new drivers to our program each race weekend, which is a very bright and positive sign for the team’s future.”

“I am really excited to have this opportunity and to work with everyone at Hixon Motor Sports,” expressed Julian DaCosta, who receives support from his partners: River Club Car Wash and SpeedKing Signs. “I know that being a rookie will come with challenges, and that will push me to work harder. My goals are to learn as much as I can, show strong results, and represent the team well.”

Julian’s father, John DaCosta, added, “We have been racing for over ten years, and the challenge never gets old. Watching our son develop over the years and have an opportunity to join Hixon Motor Sports is an exciting step forward not only for him but also for our entire family.”

A frontrunner, race winner, and champion in the Spec Miata program, DaCosta currently leads the 2023 SARRC Championship with more than 100 drivers competing. DaCosta also holds track records at Roebling Road Raceway in Spec Miata and T3 and has countless podium results and top-ten finishes throughout the season.

“Julian has a great head on his shoulders and has proven talent behind the wheel,” expressed HMS Team Owner, Bryan Hixon. “We are happy he is part of the Hixon Motor Sports family, and that we can race with Julian on our team’s roster and not against him.”

Julian DaCosta added, “Racing is more than a sport to me. It’s my passion, my lifestyle, and my career path. It requires discipline, focus, confidence, and respect for myself and those around me.
