May 12, 2022 – After a long break in the Idemitsu Mazda MX-5 Cup presented by BFGoodrich® Tires schedule, Hixon Motor Sports (HMS) is ready to get back on track this weekend. Ready to attack the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio, HMS will bring five drivers as they aim to continue the momentum and success gained so far in the short 2022 season.

“We have five drivers again this weekend and welcome a newcomer to the team,” explained Shea Holbrook, HMS Team Manager. “We look forward to having Ethan Tyler as part of the Hixon Motor Sports family and helping him achieve the results he deserves. While Dante is absent this round, we can’t wait to have him back with the team later this year.”

While Ethan is the newest member of the Hixon Motor Sports family, he will enter the race weekend with four resourceful teammates. Sitting second in the series points battle only 20 points from the overall points leader, Selin Rollan will enter the weekend looking to add to his season podium total and take over the lead in the championship. The multi-time race winner has been in the hunt throughout the season and is showing the consistency needed to earn Selin Rollan and Hixon Motor Sports their first series championship title together.

Connor Zilisch, rookie and fifth in the championship point standings, will look to extend his point lead in the chase for the Rookie of the Year honors. As a multi-time karting champion and 2022 podium winner, Zilisch provides another bullet in the chamber for HMS. Zilisch is currently tied for points with last season’s champion, Gresham Wagner, as the series heads into the third of seven events. Zilisch sits in overall first place for Rookie of the Year, with a 50-point gap ahead of the next rookie driver, sitting in the seventh position.

With two drivers in the top-five in point standings, HMS has three in the top-ten with Bruno Carneiro in eighth overall in the championship and third overall in the battle for Rookie of the Year. Another driver who has had consistent finishes, Bruno will look to earn his first podium result of the season at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. Bryce Cornet had a St. Pete weekend to forget and will look to rebound this coming weekend in Ohio. As the second full-time rookie in the five-driver effort, Cornet will aim to build on his knowledge from his experienced teammates.

Rounds five and six of the fourteen in the 2022 Idemitsu Mazda MX-5 Cup presented by BFGoodrich® Tires will take place at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course this weekend. If you cannot attend in person, you’ll be able to watch all the Hixon Motor Sports teammates racing live with commentary all-season long on www.Racer.com or www.IMSA.TV.
