Daytona Beach, FL – Hixon Motor Sports proudly announces Selin Rollan to their driver lineup at Daytona International Speedway during the Rolex 24 Hour weekend for the 2021 Global MX-5 Cup Presented by BFGoodrich® Tires championship. Rollan closed out the 2020 season securing third place in the championship. A series favorite, Rollan brings extensive experience and value to Hixon Motor Sports.
“I’ve been fortunate to have a great career thus far in Mazda platforms. The Global MX-5 Cup paddock is professional yet still very family-oriented with significant prize money offerings to winners. All of which are reason a why I continue my career with Mazda Motorsports as my primary interest,” said Rollan. “Joining Hixon Motor Sports, I believe will provide me a competitive advantage. Their operation is impressive, and my family and I see great value there. We’re looking forward to testing this weekend and excited for the first race.”
The 26-year-old from Orlando, Florida, has accomplished a lot in his short three years of professional racing. After winning the 2017 Mazda Road to 24 Shootout which secured him a spot in the 2018 Global MX-5 Cup season, he won third place in the overall championship and was named Rookie of the Year. In 2019, he saw improvement and achieved second place in the championship. He continued to finish strong in the 2020 season and landed a third-place finish in the championship.
In his 38 starts in the MX-5 Cup, Selin has achieved 8 wins, 18 podiums, and 10 pole positions. Selin began his racing career in karting when he was 11. By 15, he transitioned into SCCA and NASA Spec Miata and secured numerous wins.
Bryan Hixon, teammate, and owner at Hixon Motor Sports expressed his excitement surrounding Rollan.
“I couldn’t be happier to welcome Selin. Many will agree, he is one of the best drivers in the paddock. He’s the perfect teammate, Mazda ambassador and personality for Hixon Motor Sports. Not only am I excited to race with him, but I’m honored to have him be a part of our team,” said Hixon.
Hixon Motor Sports heads to Daytona International Speedway this weekend for testing followed by the first race of the season January 27-29, 2021, during the IMSA Rolex 24 Hour weekend.
