INDIANAPOLIS – Aaron Jeansonne will carry Future Star Racing’s red, white and blue livery for the first four events of the 2022 Idemitsu Mazda MX-5 Cup presented by BFGoodrich® Tires season.
“It is truly an honor to join Future Star Racing’s impressive stable of drivers,” explained Jeansonne. “They are doing a lot for up-and-coming drivers, and it means a lot to have their support and belief that I can make it very far in this sport. I will be giving it my all on track to have their patriotic livery running up front!”
“Future Star Racing is dedicated to supporting the next generation of deserving, talented racers as they make the next step in pursuing their motorsports dreams,” said Al Unser Jr., director of competition and driver coach at Future Star Racing. “Making it to the pinnacle of this sport requires much more than speed. It requires dedication, sacrifice and extraordinary character – and Aaron embodies all of that. We believe that his natural talent, hard work and decision-making ability on-track will make him a serious threat for title contention in the 2022 season.”
In 2022, Future Star Racing and Jeansonne will be supported by 2021 MX-5 Cup championship-winning team Spark Performance. Aaron will be in good company on-track with series veteran Alex Bachoura and returning champion Gresham Wagner as his teammates.
Born and raised in Louisiana, Aaron Jeansonne has spent the last several years making a name for himself in open wheel and sports car racing. Minimal resources meant a late start in racing for Jeansonne but winning the Team USA Scholarship in 2017 and the Mazda MX-5 Cup $110,000 Scholarship Shootout in 2020 kickstarted his professional racing dreams. Jeansonne faced several challenges in his rookie campaign in the 2021 Idemitsu Mazda MX-5 Cup presented by BFGoodrich Tires, but he faced that adversity with a smile. Mazda recognized his efforts and sportsmanship by presenting him the Spirit of Mazda award at the end of the season.
The MX-5 Cup season kicks off at Daytona International Speedway January 26-28 as part of the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona event. You can watch Jeansonne compete in the Future Star Racing car live on IMSA.com/tvlive and Peacock.
