October 9, 2024 – Julian DaCosta will complete his rookie season in the Whelen MX-5 Cup Presented by Michelin at the famed Petit LeMans event this weekend at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta. Piloting the Austin Hatcher Foundation / JTR Motorsports Engineering #78 machine, DaCosta will look to build upon his podium event from the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park event just two races ago.
“When you have had that taste of the podium, it only drives you for more,” explained DaCosta. “I am anxious to get the weekend going and finish 2024 strong. I can’t help but to look forward to the 2025 season and possible race program, but right now, my full focus is making sure we have success at Road Atlanta.”
Entering the weekend seventh in the Whelen MX-5 Cup Presented by Michelin championship standings but second amongst the talented crop of rookie drivers, DaCosta has his sights set high in the final event of the season.
DaCosta added, “I would like nothing more than to cap the season off with a win and put the Austin Hatcher Foundation and JTR Motorsports Engineering machine on the podium's top step. A huge thank you to everyone who has helped get me to where I am today and supported me throughout the 2024 season.”
Looking to build momentum toward a yet-to-be-announced 2025 race program, Julian DaCosta will hit the 2.54-mile, 12-turn Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta on Wednesday, October 9 for a pair of practice sessions. Thursday will be the home of qualifying for the first wheel-to-wheel race of the Petit LeMans weekend, with the 2024 season concluding with the second race of the event on Friday.
