Birmingham, AL (April 11, 2018)- Andrew Pinkerton will fill in for John Mauro in the number 23 Ceramic Pro Mazda with Jason Hoover Motorsports at the Barber Motorsports Park rounds of the Mazda Global MX-5 Cup presented by Battery Tender, April 19-21. This will be Pinkerton’s professional and series debut in front of his home crowd.
Pinkerton has extensive experience racing in various amateur series including seat time in the second generation NB Mazda Miata in SCCA Spec Miata. In addition to racing, Andrew is an instructor for the Porsche Sport Driving School located at Barber Motorsports Park. He hopes to use his familiarity with the highly technical circuit to his advantage in this extremely competitive series.
In the past, Pinkerton has been involved with Barber Motorsports Park and the Indycar Grand Prix as a volunteer. This will be the first time he has not been involved with the event on an operational side. Andrew is very appreciative of this opportunity and is especially excited to make his professional debut at the track that started his passion for racing.

Andrew Pinkerton has been racing since the age of sixteen competing in SCCA and NASA club racing. He fielded a car in the Chumpcar Endurance series with friends from school. Andrew is currently a driving instructor for the Porsche Sport Driving School, Mercedes-Benz Brand Immersion Experience, and Atlanta Motorsports Park.
