W Series competitor set for Daytona debut in Mazda MX-5 Cup
JANUARY 26 - As a competitor in multiple different series and driving race cars all around the world, current W Series driver Sabré Cook will join Hixon Motor Sports (HMS) in Daytona. Set for her first Mazda MX-5 Cup Presented by BFGoodrich event at the Daytona International Speedway January 27th to the 29th, Cook will pilot a Hixon & Apple Motor Sports Mazda MX-5 and will bring a variety of partners to the table to help her through the race week.
“I’m incredibly excited to be joining Hixon Motor Sports for this event and greatly appreciate them adding me in their driver roster,” expressed Sabré Cook, who will look to put her #37 HMS entry at the front of the field in Daytona. “This will be my first race at the Daytona International Speedway, and I cannot wait to race on such an iconic American track. To be able to take in the magic and excitement of the week of the Rolex 24 at Daytona for the first time will also be something special.”
“Sabré is a very talented driver with a good head on her shoulders. She has worked and raced around the world and brings an additional element to HMS,” communicated Bryan Hixon. “Not only is she fast on the track, but she is knowledgeable in the paddock and has no problem depicting data and working hard to increase speed and decrease lap time. I am looking forward to watching her in an HMS car.”
Cook added, “This will be my first race in a Mazda MX-5 Cup race car, so I’m looking forward to the challenge of learning the ins and outs of the car and also partaking in the incredibly close, strategic race craft that comprise the Mazda MX-5 Cup races. I think Hixon Motor Sports and I have very strong potential for a good result, and I’ll be fighting all week to deliver a great performance for them and my partners.”
“Thank you to Hixon Motor Sports, Apple Motorsports/Automotive, Xtract Technologies, Acoustic Blueprint, Major Mortgage, Adcock Concrete, and GJ Home Builders for helping put me on the grid. I feel so blessed to have this collective of amazing people and businesses behind me.” continued Cook. “I of course want to thank my long-time supporters such as Bell Helmets, Sabelt, Grand Junction Motor Speedway, and Shift Up Now as well.”
Gaining experience at a pair of SCCA Majors events at the Homestead Miami Speedway and the Sebring International Raceway in a GT2 machine, Cook will travel to Daytona at the end of the month to make her Mazda MX-5 Cup debut. Beginning in June, Cook will once again begin her jet setting around the world with the W Series kicking off in late June in France before traveling to Austria, the UK, Hungary, Belgium, The Netherlands, United States and Mexico.
With on-track action at the Daytona International Speedway beginning Wednesday, January 27th, two wheel-to-wheel races will go green on the 28th and 29th as the 2021 season takes the green flag.
