Nathaniel Sparks earned the Battery Tender Global Mazda MX-5 Cup pole at Barber Motorsports Park. In blustery conditions, Sparks turned a 1:39.275 in his No. 8 Sick Sideways entry.

Joey Bickers and John Dean III completed the top three. Newcomer Gresham Wagner was the highest qualifying rookie in the No. 5 Sick Sideways car. Fastest of the Challenger Class was Charlie Belluardo, driver of the No. 73 Flatout Motorsports Mazda MX-5.
