2024 Rookie of the Year, racing driver Westin Workman returns to BSI Racing and the Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup, Presented by Michelin for the 2025 season.
Workman was the winner of the Mazda Shootout in 2023 and scholarship recipient for the 2024 season. In his debut season, he tallied four podiums, including wins at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park and Sebring, where he notched his first win of his career at the professional level.
His successful 2024 campaign saw him finish 6th in the championship, earning himself Rookie of the Year honors and $80,000 from Mazda Motorsports.
Entering his second year in the highly competitive series, Workman will look to build off his success from last year and compete for the overall championship with BSI. Piloting the iconic purple and silver no. 13 MX-5, the 20-year old from North Carolina will team-up with car chief Ricky Schild.
“It is great to be back with BSI Racing for a second year,” said Workman.
“We achieved a lot together in just my rookie year. I can’t wait to see what more we can accomplish this year with experience under my belt and some heavy hitting teammates. I am looking to contend for the championship and the team has the same goal. I wouldn’t rather do it with anyone else.”
With Workman’s return to BSI, the goal of winning a team championship is in sight for Shea Holbrook and company.

“He’s a fierce competitor and tenacious driver on the track with so much skill, not just for his age, but across the board. We love working with the Workman family and are incredibly excited about the team we’re fielding this year to go with him.”
Workman and BSI Racing will return to the track January 22-24, as a part of IMSA’s Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona. All races will be streamed on IMSA.tv with on-track activities beginning on Wednesday, the 22nd.
