If you’ve ever wanted a shot to race in a Global MX-5 Cup car, Lemons of Love might have your winning ticket.
Lemons of Love is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization that delivers chemo care packages. Founded in 2014, Lemons of Love began when Jill Swanson, who has spent a lifetime in the motorsports community and owns the F.A.S.T. cool suit company, was herself undergoing cancer treatment. Making the best out of a difficult situation, she began to bring gifts for her fellow patients when she visited the Oncology center. When her treatments came to an end, several of her friends in the racing community stepped in with funds to continue the project.
In the 3 ½ years that have passed, Lemons of Love has shared over 6800 chemo care packages throughout the United States and other countries. Lemons of Love also offers support groups and many other resources to the cancer community, relying heavily on the motorsports community to sustain and grow.
Jump ahead to 2016 when a conversation with friend Alana Long, of Long Road Racing, sparked the idea of the MX-5 Cup car giveaway as a way to promote Lemons of Love. A successful first year for the raffle has led Swanson to proceed with a second raffle, with the winning ticket to be drawn at 9 AM on Saturday, March 17 in the paddock at the Mobil 1 12 Hours of Sebring by John Doonan, Director of Mazda Motorsports.
“We are hoping with all the awareness that was created last time, that this giveaway will be even more successful for Lemons of Love,” said Swanson. The response we got from last year’s giveaway was huge! All proceeds from this giveaway go to Lemons of Love so that we may continue our mission to share the love with those fighting cancer with a care package and emotional support. We are honored to have the continued support of Mazda Motorsports.”
Tickets for the Lemons of Love raffle are $100, and will grant you entry to win a brand-new Mazda Global MX-5 Cup car. The season opener of the MX-5 Cup will be held March 23-25 at the Circuit of The Americas in Austin, Texas.
